AVA - Carl D. Rogers, 75, of Ava, passed away at 11:15 pm, Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at his home in Ava. Carl was born in Jacob, Illinois on June 8, 1938, the son of Allen and Mary Franklin Rogers. Carl married Patricia Catlett on June 18, 1962 in Murphysboro, Illinois. He was a retired coal miner. Carl was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Ava Assembly of God Church, Ava, Illinois and the U.M.W. of Local #1250. Carl is survived by his wife, Patricia Rogers of Ava; sons, Steve (LeaAnna) Rogers of Anna, IL and Jeff (Starlitt) Rogers of Pinckneyville, IL; grandchildren, Josh Rogers, Stephanie Rogers and Lexa Sharp; great grandchildren, Maya Kay Rogers, Cheyeanne Skidmore, Wyatt Reiman and Dylan Skidmore; and a brother, Charles Rogers of Ava. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill Rogers; and a sister, Rachel Ellet. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Janet Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Joy Cemetery, Murphysboro. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 10 am until 11 am Saturday. Memorials may be given to the Ava Assembly of God Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
