STEELEVILLE – Carl G. King, 66, of Steeleville, went to his heavenly home, Friday, May 19, 2023, at 10:08 am, at his home surrounded by his family.
Carl was born on November 9, 1956, in Sparta, Illinois, to Clifford and Ella Mae (Snodgrass) King. Carl married Lisa Irwin King on January 31, 1981, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Sparta. She survives.
Carl was a coal miner for Peabody Baldwin Underground for 16 + years. He then continued his education to earn a Technical Degree in Industrial Electricity. He worked for Gilster May Lee as a maintenance electrician until his cancer diagnosis. Carl and his wife met when he was riding his beloved Harley Davison. He continued to be passionate about the motorcycle life as a whole. Many memories were created as Carl and Lisa rode through the beautiful country God created.
Carl was an active member of Grace Church Ministries in Chester, IL and also a member of the UMWA. Carl was a devoted family man who used his giftings to bless his family on a daily basis. He was a one-of-a- kind man, irreplaceable! He will be missed by his family, friends, and anyone who had the pleasure of ever knowing him.
Carl is survived by his wife Lisa: their children Elizabeth (Kevin) Manis of Carterville, IL and Jason King of Columbia, MO; Granddaughter: Mariah Manis; Sister: Beverly (Louis) Krueger; Sisters-in-law: Linda (Gale) Reidelberger and Carol Gladson; brother- in- law: Gene Irwin; Many loved nieces and nephews: Kendra (Tim) Squibb, Brian (Buffy) Diefenbach, David (Tammy) King, Shane (Jessica) Reidelberger, Scott (Tiffany) Reidelberger, Kevin (Jane) Gladson, Freddie (Jackie) Irwin, Kerry (Paul) Irwin; and Great nieces and nephews: Caleb, Grant, Ella Mae Squibb, Haley and Elijah Diefenbach, Emma and Olivia Reidelberger, Isaiah, Lucille, Hattie Reidelberger, Samantha Gladson, Heather Ayers, Adam Irwin, Candance Irwin, Sydney King, and Colton King.
Carl is preceeded in death by his parents, brothers, Lowell King and Bobby Dale King, sister-in-law, Rena King, and brother-in- law, Russel Gladson.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Grace Church Ministries, Chester, with Rev. Ron Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville, with Rev. Stephen Duncan officiating. Visitation will be at Grace Church, Chester, on Saturday, from 11 am until 1 pm. Memorials may be given to Sandras Comfort or Randolph County Humane Society, c/o Wilson's Funeral Home, PO Box 217, Steeleville, IL 62288.
