PERCY – Carl E. Hafford, 74, of Percy, passed away on January 29, 2017, at the St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Carl was born on September 24, 1942, in Eldorado, the son of Bluford and Julia May (Coker) Hafford. He first married Evelyn Seago, and she preceded him in death on August 17, 1986, then he married Janet Wilson Grefe, on August 2, 1992 in Steeleville, and they shared 24 years of marriage. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1966, then once returning home we worked as a school bus driver until he retired. He attended the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville.
He is survived by his wife Janet Hafford, of Percy, children; Darla (Richard) Bennett, of Houston, Texas, Carla (Sonny) Diep, of Swansea, Illinois, Keith (Sarah) Hafford, of Belleville, Illinois, step daughter; JoEllen (Ryan) Boike, of Smithton, Illinois, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Carl is also survived by 2 brothers; Franklin Hafford, of Iowa, and Randal (Susan) Hafford, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, 1 sister; Bonnie (Jack) Chaney, of O'Fallon, Illinois.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother; James Hafford.
Memorial services will be held at 7 PM Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville, with Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 7 PM. Memorials may be made to the Peace Lutheran Church or a Love Fund for the Family.
