CHESTER – Capt. Charles R. "Chuck" Tiller, 63, of Chester, passed away at 5:46 PM, Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at his home.
Charles was born on April 4, 1956, in Chester, the son of Charles H. and Ruth J. (Schroeder) Tiller. He married Pamela Sink, on January 16, 1981, in Percy. Mr. Tiller's career was a River Pilot, and he was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville, Operating Engineers Local #318, Steeleville Eagles Aerie #3960. His life was spent working the River.
Chuck is survived by his wife; Pamela Tiller, of Chester, 1 son; Benjamin (Rachael) Tiller, of St. Louis, Missouri, his mother; Ruth Tiller, of Steeleville, sisters; Sharon (Greg) Vallett, of Steeleville, Jeri (Burt) Chandler, of New Bern, Tennessee, mother-in-law; Alvera Icenhour, of Murphy, North Carolina, sister-in-law; Pat (Russ) Robertson, of Percy, brother-in-law; Rich (Genese) Sink, of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tiller was preceded in death by his father; Charles Harold Tiller.
Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Minister Deb Rathert, and Rev. Jim Tinzmann officiating, burial will follow at the Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be held on Monday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, and then on Tuesday from 7:30 AM until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's School.
