AVA – Capalia Ann Skidmore, 91, of Ava, passed away at 3:07 pm, Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Capalia was born in Oraville, Illinois, on December 26, 1932, the daughter of Roscoe Buford and Virginia Marie Dains Vancil. She was preceded in death by her ex husband, Walter Marion Skidmore on July 29, 2002. Capalia was a Homemaker and a member of Crain Baptist Church, Ava, Illinois.

Capalia is survived by her children, Andrew (Marcia) Skidmore of Winchester, VA, John (Waquita "Skeeter") Skidmore of Malvarn, AR, and Susan (David) Nellis of Ava; grandchildren, Kelly Skidmore, Buford Skidmore, Andra Skidmore, Christina Skidmore, Shawn Skidmore, Patrick Skidmore, Brooke Skidmore, Nathan (BJane) Skidmore, Levi (Kayla) Nellis, Savanna Nellis, and Julianna Nellis; and great grandchildren, Bryce Skidmore, Isaac Skidmore, Silvia Skidmore, Gabreil Nealis, Alora Gallitin, Asa Gallitin, Parker Ervin, Grayson Ervin, and Emersyn Nellis.

Capalia was also preceded in death by her Parents; infant Son, Robert Bennett Skidmore, Son, Edward Lee Skidmore, and Brother, Benjamin (Kathern Marks) Vancil.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 19, 2024, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Andrew Mifflin officiating. Private burial will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Belleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call on Friday from 9 am until 11:00 am. Memorials may be given to the Family or Crain Baptist Church.
