Obituary
AVA – Brenda K. Hood, 66, of Ava, passed away at 6:35 pm, Sunday, July 1, 2018, at her home in Ava.
Brenda was born in Ava, Illinois, on July 10, 1951, the daughter of James Evan and Geraldine Ellen Morgan Hawkins. She married Virgil Young, Arlyn Volkman, and Ted Hood. Brenda was a retired Secretary. She was of the Pentecostal Faith and a member of VFW Post #6865 Auxiliary in Coulterville, Illinois.
Brenda is survived by her children, Virgil Lee Young of Ava, Sandra Ellen Young of Carterville and Angela Marie McKay of Montana; 6 Grandchildren; Sisters: Cathy Claussen of Ava and Debra Gale of Sparta; brother, Danny Leon Holcomb of Sparta; Special Aunt, Betty Claussen of Ava; two uncles, Jack and Linda Brown of Ava and Bo Brown of Ava; one cousin, who was like a brother, Rick Carter and several other cousins.
Brenda was preceded in death by her Parents and one brother, Larry James Hawkins.
It was Brenda's wishes for cremation. A memorial service will be held at a 1 PM on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the United Pentecostal Church in Ava. Burial will be at a later date with burial at Buchanan Cemetery, Rockwood. Memorials may be given to the Family.
