PINCKNEYVILLE – Betty Jane Skidmore, 87, of Pinckneyville formerly of Ava, passed away at 1:42 AM, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Betty was born on January 17, 1931, in Ava, the daughter of Harry C. and Clarissa E. (Luthy) Hiser, Sr.. She married Roy Skidmore on July 5, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas, and they shared 30 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on August 5, 1980. Mrs. Skidmore was a seamstress, and a member of the First Christian Church, in Pinckneyville, and the Pinckneyville Senior Citizens.
Betty is survived by her children; Ronald M. Skidmore, of Ellis Grove, and Barbara Winter, of Pinckneyville, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters; Ruby Street, of Springfield, and Mary Dailey, of Romeoville, Illinois.
Mrs. Skidmore was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son; Roy Eldon, and 1 grandson Roy Carl Skidmore, and son-in-law; Russell E. Winter, and 7 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava, with Rev. Josh Yonts officiating, burial will follow at the Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 6 to 8 PM, and then on Saturday morning from 7:30 until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
