SPARTA - Betty A. Reid, 82, of Sparta, passed away at 7:32 pm, Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Randolph County Care Center in Sparta. Betty was born in Shelbyvile, Illinois, on August 11, 1931, the daughter of Lawrence and Bess Simmons Lovins. She married Vernon "Doe" Reid on May 4, 1950 in Steeleville, IL. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1987. Betty was a member of Green Mount Road Church of Christ, Belleville, IL. She was a homemaker. Betty is survived by two sons, James (Tammie) Reid of Bryant, Arkansas and Robert (Nancy) Reid of Coalstrip, Montana; one daughter, Lizabeth (Jerry) Farley of Newport News, Virginia; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and one sisters, Dorothy Stewart of Steeleville. Betty was also preceded in death by Parents; one brother; and one sister. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
