AVA – Betty J. Kranawetter, 63 of Ava, passed away at 1:30 am, Thursday, July 21, 2016 at her home in Ava.

Betty was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, on August 31, 1952, the daughter of George, Sr. and Essie Davis Morber. She married Dale R. Kranawetter on June 12, 1971 at Christ Lutheran Church in Jacob. She retired from Illinois Department of Corrections from Illinois Youth Center, Murphysboro. Betty was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill.

Betty is survived by her husband, Dale R. Kranawetter of Ava; her children, Dawn Farris of Ava, Michelle (Jeremy) Larson of Carterville, IL, Cheryl (Brock) Gale of Jacob, and Jeremy (Megan) Kranawetter of Murphysboro; 11 grandchildren, Ashley and Katlyn Newfarmer, Tyler and Brody Larson, Sydney and Kendall Farris, Mitchel and Chase Gale, Jaelyn, Brenna and Keegan Kranawetter; her brother, George, Jr. (Mel) Morber of Ava; her sister, Janet (Larry) Johnson of Carbondale; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jolene Morber of Murphysboro, Connie Morber of Campbell Hill, Don Frederick of Gorham, IL, Ruth Ann (Gerald) Thies of Percy, Earl (Linda) Kranawetter of Campbell Hill, Lloyd (Renee) Kranawetter of Jacob, Wanda (Dennis) Korando of Jacob, Rita (Brian)VanPelt of Gorham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her Parents; three brothers, Larry, William and Clifford; one sister, Carolyn Frederick; and one son-in-law, Matt Farris.

Funeral service will be held at 10 am, Monday, July 25, 2016 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, with Rev. Matthew Kamprath officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Joy Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 5:30 pm until 8 pm on Sunday and on Monday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church from 9 am until 10 am. Memorials may be given to St. Luke's Lutheran Church or Mt. Joy Cemetery.
