Obituary
SPARTA – Thelda D. "Betty" Ervin, 96, of Sparta, passed away at 1:06 pm, Thursday, November 8, 2018, at the Coulterville Care Center in Coulterville, Illinois.
Thelda was born in Tilden, Illinois, on January 20, 1922, the daughter of Earl and Leona Frieman McCauley. She married Floyd Ervin on April 10, 1941 at Perryville, MO. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1981. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sparta. Betty formerly worked at P.N. Hirsch in Sparta.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou (George) Bailey of Belleville and Nancy (Gary) Stork of Sparta; three grandchildren, Robin (Joe) McMurtry, Eric (Christine) Bailey and Corey Stork; five great grandchildren, Lance and Bailey McMurtry, Aaron and Austin Stork and Jett Bailey; sister-in-law, Pauline McCauley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was also preceded in death by her Parents; grandson, Ronnie Stork; and two brothers, Noral and Ordith McCauley.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 12, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sparta, with Rev. Robert Miner officiating. Burial will follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 6 pm until 8 pm and on Monday from 10 am until 11 am at the church. Memorials may be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church or Heartland Hospice.
