AVA – Betty R. Claussen, 90, of Ava, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021, at her home in Ava, IL.
Betty was born October 17, 1931, in Raddle, IL, to Robert Roscoe and Myrtle Pearl Glodo Morgan Brown. She married Wayne Thompson Claussen on August 29, 1947, in Murphysboro, IL, he preceded her in death on September 13, 2010. Betty was a caregiver for the elderly and a member of Ava United Pentecostal Church, Ava, IL.
Betty is survived by her daughters: Patricia Kay Claussen Peters Brown of Boone, NC, Cathy Lynn Claussen of Ava, IL; grandsons: Robert W. (Andrea) Peters of Boone, NC, Joseph W. (Amanda) Peters of Effingham, IL; great granddaughters: Hayley Marie Peters of Effingham, IL, Oshen Marly Young of Effingham, IL, Sequoia Zona Rose Young of Effingham, IL; great grandson, Henry "Hank" Aaron Thompson Peters of Boone, NC, great great granddaughter, Ali May Peters of Effingham, IL, brother, Jackie E. (Linda) Brown of Ava, IL, nephews: Ricky Lee (Roberta) Carter of Marion, IL, Danny Leon Holcomb of Mascoutah, IL, Jimmy (Joyce) Richardson of Texas, Clayton Eugen Richardson of Texas, Jackie Eugene Brown, Jr. of Ava, IL, Richard Alan Brown of Ava, IL, Clarence Ellis (Tena) Claussen of West Frankfort, IL, Vernon (Stacy) Drury of Hurst, IL; nieces: Debra Janine (Gale) Holcomb of Sparta, IL, Angela Marie McKay of Montana, Trudy (Paul) Thompson of Murphysboro, IL, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Betty is also preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Bobby Clarence Eugene Morgan, Herbert Edward Morgan, and Harry Leon "Bo" Brown; sisters: Kathleen Roberta Carter, Geraldine Ellen Holcomb, Joann Naomi Richardson Cheatham, nephews: Roger Dean Richardson, Billy Samuel Carter, Gary Lavern Carter, Larry James Hawkins; and niece, Brenda Kay Hawkins Young.
Funeral services will be held at11:00 am, Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, IL, with Rev. Thomas Bevis officiating. Burial to follow at Glenn Cemetery, Jacob, IL. Visitation will be Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, IL, where friends may call from 5-8 pm, Friday, and 7:30 – 11 am on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the family.
