STEELEVILLE - Betty Lou Chadderton, age 69, of Steeleville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019, at her home.

She was born April 16, 1950, in Sparta, the daughter of Kenneth Martin and Cornelia Ann (Mills) Chadderton.

Betty was often known best as "Aunt Betty" or "Stretch" by those who knew and loved her.  She was a 1968 graduate of Steeleville High School.  After attending beauty school, she worked at Glamour Salon, and continued styling hair in her spare time.  She held positions in the offices of the Treasurer and County Clerk at the Randolph County Courthouse, and was employed in the bindery of World Color Press for over 17 years.  She later worked for Technicolor and Dorma until her retirement.  Over the years, Betty enjoyed playing and coaching softball, and loved attending dances and listening to favorite local and regional bands with her friends.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and adored her two dogs, Abbey and Riley.  When it came to her nieces and nephews, she looked forward to planning activities with them including taking trips and attending a variety of events.  Betty will truly be remembered as a thoughtful and caring person to her family, friends, and co-workers.

Betty is survived by her brother, Bruce Chadderton and wife Lisa of Campbell Hill, as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Patricia Chadderton and Donna Brenning; and a brother, John Chadderton.

A funeral ceremony will be held Friday, December 13, 2019, at 1 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. William F. Engfehr III officiating.  Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., and then at St. Mark's Lutheran Church from 12 noon until 1 p.m.  Memorials may be made to either St. Mark's Lutheran Church or St. Mark's Lutheran School.
