MURPHYSBORO - Bernice Walters, 86, of Murphysboro, IL, passed away at 7:33 am, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Bernice was born in Murphysboro on April 7, 1926, the daughter of George and Emma Jatho Brown. She married Wesley H. Walters on November 24, 1948 in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2003. Bernice was a homemaker. Bernice is survived by two sons, David Walters of Ava, IL and Douglas Walters of Murphysboro; one daughter, Mary Hosmon of Marion, IL; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Sherman Johnson of Farmington, MO and William Johnson of Vergennes, IL. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson; two sisters; and one brother. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 3:30 pm at the Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro with Chaplin Mary Wyatt officiating.
