Obituary

STEELEVILLE - Bernice "Bernie" E. Bockhorn, 88, of Steeleville, passed away at 11:15 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Three Springs Lodge in Chester. Bernice was born in Walsh, IL, on August 25, 1924, the daughter of Rudolph and Ida Krantz Eggemeyer. She married Wayne M. Bockhorn on February 20, 1945 in Steeleville, IL. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2002. Bernice was a homemaker and a real estate broker. Bernice was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville. She was a member of various church organizations including Ambassadors for Christ and the Steeleville Food Pantry. She was a former member of the Chester Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Bernice is survived by one son, Douglas (Judy) Bockhorn of Sparta, IL; one daughter, Diane (Tim) Esala of St. Charles, MO; three grandchildren, Angela Pisutha-Arnond of Webster Grove, MO, Josh Esala of St. Charles, MO and Aaron Esala of Kansas City, MO; two great grandsons, Thai Pisutha-Arnond and Cole Douglas Pisutha-Arnond; and one brother, Delmar Eggemeyer of Steeleville. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Derek Bockhorn; two brothers; and one sister. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday and on Thursday from 7:30 am until 9 am then from 10 to 11 am at the church. Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church or the Steeleville Food Pantry.
