PINCKNEYVILLE – Barry D. Carter, 75, of Pinckneyville, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Cutler, Illinois.

Barry was born on December 18, 1950, in Murphysboro, IL, to Fritz and Ruby (Dierks) Carter. He worked at various coal mines and was a heavy equipment operator. Barry was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War. He was in the 421st Fighter Squad, The Black Widows. Barry was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Pinckneyville, IL and the Italian Club. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Barry is survived by his children: Brian (Melinda) Carter of White, GA, Derek Carter of Rome, GA, step daughter, Diane Pierson of Kennesaw, GA; his grandchildren: Colin Carter, Lilia Carter, and Hudson Carter; his siblings: Terry Carter of Springfield, IL, Diane Hepp of Waterloo, IL, Tammy (Tom) Ernsting of Campbell Hill, IL; his niece, Sonya (Kurt) Ohlau of Columbia, IL and their children: Leilani, Fenix, Mabri and Kruz.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Ruby Carter, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Barry’s wishes were for cremation, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, 3:00 pm, Pinckneyville Eagles Lodge, 13 South Walnut Street, Pinckneyville, IL 62274.
