MURPHYSBORO – Barbara Ann Jones, 76, of Murphysboro, passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois, at 4:30 pm, on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Barbara was the daughter of Omer W. and Elizabeth Flaningam Jones. She had many talents, excelling at golf, playing the guitar, an artist, storyteller extraordinaire, and had sharp wit that kept those with her entertained. Barbara graduated from University of Illinois with a double major in Speech Communication and French and then obtained a Juris Doctor from SIU School of Law. Barbara practiced law, became an insurance agent and worked at SIU in Carbondale.

Barbara is survived by her brother, Thomas H. (Deborah) Jones; two nieces, Laura A. (Greg) James, and Amanda G. (Jamie) Hine; and their families, great nieces and nephews, Ashley, Grant, and Madison Hine and Garrett James; step great nephew, Josh (Erin) James; and several great great nieces and great great nephews; one step nephew, Adam Roe; step nieces: Mary Beth Roe (Eric) Munson and Jennifer (Jeff) Cornwell. She was loved and will be missed by her family and many lifelong friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her Parents; one sister-in-law, Sharon Jones; and one nephew, Thomas W. Jones.

Private burial service will be held at a later date.
