Obituary

CAMPBELL HILL – Barbara Ellen Froemling, 84, of Campbell Hill, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 23, 2021 in Sparta, Illinois.

Barbara was born in Gorham, Illinois, on September 29, 1936, the daughter of Edward G. and Esther M. Fauss Reeder.

She married Arvel L. Froemling on August 31, 1956 at the Nazarene Church in Murphysboro.  They would have been married 65 years next month. Their family grew as they were blessed by four children, Karen (Mike) Tripp of Campbell Hill, Rick (Beverly) Froemling of Campbell Hill, Fred (Mona) Froemling of Campbell Hill, and Pamela (Charles) Wooden of Collierville, TN.  They have 11 grandchildren, Tammy (Jason) Pollard, Rusty (Michelle) Tripp, Matt Froemling, Dan (Megan) Froemling, Ben (Joey) Froemling, Jerry Froemling, Cory (Laci) Froemling, Cassey (Aaron) Caswell, Alecia (Jason) Burgess, Bailee Grob and Jarett Grob.  They have 18 great grandchildren, Nolan, Chase, Alex and Elena Pollard, Logan and Ella Tripp, Xander Froemling, Will and Toby Froemling, Keygon, Azlynn and Lincoln Caswell, Ty, Trey and Addison Burgess and Nova, Onyx and Riot Grob.

Barbara was very active in her church, St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, as well as her community.  She participated in the Women of the ELCA, serving not only as her church's officers, but also on the local conference and the state levels and representative on the National level.  She helped organize the Campbell Hill Beautification Club and served as President several times.  While her kids were in grade school, she was active in the PTA, also performing in their annual soup supper and variety show.  She was also a member of the Jackson County Home Extension, serving as an officer on the Campbell Hill Unit and on the county level.  Barb was a hairdresser and had a shop in their home for many years, starting in the late '60s until she retired.  After retiring, she helped form the local Red Hatters ladies.  She held the office of Queen Bee (President) for many years.  She also participated on the local and state levels.  She enjoyed her Red Hatters Ladies so much.  They had a lot of fun.  Barbara also worked at the Jackson County polls in Campbell Hill for many years.  She, along with Marilyn Knop, prepared and served food to the Trico Lions Club for many years.  She loved cooking and serving food, not only to the Lions, but also at the Kinkaid Kountry Kitchen outside of Ava.  She and Arvel were partners with the late Homer and Gladys Rathert.  She ran the day shift kitchen for quite a few years.  She really enjoyed preparing the food except for cutting up cases of chicken, not a fun job.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Arvel; all her children; grandchildren; and great grandchildren; sisters, Janet (Fritz) Perry of Memphis, TN, Wilma (Jim) Bollinger of Miami, OK; brothers, Ed "Bud" Reeder and Dave (Barb) Reeder, all of Murphysboro; brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer (Fay) Froemling, Leonard (Connie) Froemling, Barbara G. Froemling, all of Ava,  Ruth (Richard) Petrowske of Campbell Hill, Carleen Reeder of Murphysboro; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
