AVA – Barbara E. Casteel, 74, of Ava, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at her daughters' home in Carbondale, Illinois.

Barbara was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, on March 30, 1946 the daughter of William H. and Katherine B Schott Casteel.  Barbara was a member of Sato Baptist Church, Ava, IL.  She was a retired nurse from St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, IL, and Paramedic for Jackson County Ambulance Service.  Barbara had also worked as a social worker.

Barbara is survived by her children; Krista (Cheryl) Allsup of Hurst, IL, Michelle Kay(Michael) Asa of Carbondale, IL, and Kent Schorn of Campbell Hill, IL.  Grandchildren; Alacia Schorn(Travis Ruffing), Lucas Asa, Grace Lehnhoff, Emily Lehnhoff, Eli Lehnhoff, Katie Asa, and Lily Schorn.  Special family who cared for her: Charles(Sharon) Petry, Roger (Alice) Jones, William(Stacy) Schott, Nikki Schorn and John Bigham.

Barbara was preceded in death by her Parents and late husband, Howard Anderson.

Private graveside services will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020, at Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, IL.  Burial will follow.
