Obituary
WILLISVILLE – Avonell Salger, 79, of Willisville, passed away at 5:25 pm, Thursday, May 25, 2018 at the Randolph County Care Center in Sparta.
Avonell was born in Percy, Illinois, on February 19, 1939, the daughter of Herbert E. and Luella Bierman Hornbostel. She was married to William H. Salger on January 18, 1958 in Campbell Hill, Illinois by Rev. H.C. Welp. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2008.
Avonell was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville; Senior Citizens in Willisville; Board member in Perry County; and Kaskaskia VFW Post #3553 Auxiliary, Chester. She was retired from Gilster Mary Lee.
Avonell is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Salger of Willisville; brother-in-law, George (May) Salger of Steeleville and Junior (Carolyn) Salger of Salem; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Carstens of Marion, June Knop of Steeleville, Catherine (Maurice) Mayer of Steeleville, Loretta Baiter of Farina, IL and Donna Salger of Steeleville; and many nieces and nephews.
Avonell was also preceded in death by her Parents; one son, Michael; brother, Gary Hornbostel; two sister, Betty Wilson and an infant; brother-in-law, Harry Salger and Willard Salger; and sister-in-law, Anita (Lloyd) Mayer.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. William F. Engfehr, III officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 9 am until 10 am Wednesday. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Organ Fund or Family Hospice.
