CAMPBELL HILL – Arvel L. Froemling, 87, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023, at his home. Arvel got his Christmas wish to spend Christmas with his beloved wife of 65 years.
Arvel was born on February 12, 1936, in Ava, IL, the son of Herman and Laura (Casten) Froemling. He married Barbara Ellen Reeder on August 31, 1956, at the Nazarene Church in Murphysboro, IL. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2021. Arvel owned and operated the Texaco Station in Campbell Hill from 1965 to 1972, then opened Froemling Tire in 1973. He operated it until his retirement in 2004. Arvel also was a cofounder of Kinkaid Kountry Kitchen in the early 70's, along with his wife. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL, Egyptian Antique Auto Club, past president of Trico Lions Club, former member of Campbell Hill Town Board, former member of St. Luke's Church Council, Campbell Hill Fire Department and was a past Fire Chief.
Arvel is survived by his children: Rick (Beverly) Froemling of Campbell Hill, IL, Fred (Mona) Froemling of Campbell Hill, IL, Pamela (Charles) Wooden of Collierville, TN; son-in-law, Mike Tripp of Campbell Hill, IL, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, brothers: Homer (Faye) Froemling of Ava, IL, Leonard (Connie) Froemling of Ava, IL; sister, Ruth Petrowski (Richard Dawson) of Campbell Hill, IL, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Froemling of Ava, IL.
Arvel was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Karen Tripp, a grandson, Jarett Grob, brother, Delbert Froemling, and an infant brother.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 10:00 am, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL, with Minister Debra Rathert officiating. Burial to follow at St. Luke Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, IL, where friends may call from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and on Friday from 9:00 am until 10:00am at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, c/o Wilson's Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Ava, IL, 62907.
