Obituary
STEELEVILLE – Ardell H. Alms, 85, of Steeleville, passed away at 7:02 pm, Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester.
Ardell was born in Campbell Hill, Illinois on June 21, 1930, the son of William and Anna Oetking Alms. He married Doretta J. Karsten on February 4, 1956 in Steeleville. He was a US Navy veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. Ardell was retired from Spartan Printing as a Journeyman Printer. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville and the B.B.K. American Legion Post #480 in Steeleville. Ardell liked all sports and enjoyed golfing.
Ardell is survived by his wife, Doretta Alms of Steeleville; one son, Kent A. (Carol) Alms of Chesterfield, MO; one daughter, Kathy (Skip) Silvester of Florissant, MO; 2 grandchildren, Tyler Alms and Steven Silvester; sister-in-law, Nita Alms of Steeleville; brother-in-law, LeRoy (Marlene) Karsten of Marissa, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Ardell was preceded in death by his Parents; one sister, Pearl and two brothers, Orville and Donald.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. S. Blake Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 5 pm until 8 pm Wednesday with an American Legion Service at 8 pm and on Thursday from 7:30 am until 2 pm.
