PINCKNEYVILLE – Ammie Ruby Farris, 86, of Pinckneyville passed away at 3:50 PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital in Chester.
Ammie was born on October 9, 1930 in East Prairie, Missouri, the daughter of Leland Daniel and Dorothy Lilian Mitchell Pratt. She married James Vernon Farris on September 8, 1948 at Popular Bluff, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1993. Ammie was retired from Gilster Mary-Lee Corp. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Woodmen of the World.
Ammie is survived by five children, Carolyn (Harry) Duncan of Browns, IL, Peggy (Charles) Stevenson of Breese, IL, Joyce (Mike) Weinhoffer of Cutler, Martha (John) Odom of Sparta, IL and Pamela (Roland) Luthy of Cincinnati, OH; 21 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Brenda Farris of Percy and Kay Farris of Cutler.
Ammie was also preceded in death by her parents; four sons, James Daniel Farris, James Vernon Farris, Jr., Gerald Farris and Harold Farris; three grandchildren; five sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Percy with Rev. Roland D. Luthy officiating. Burial will follow in Cutler Cemetery, Cutler, Illinois. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Percy, where friends may call from 9 am until 1:30 pm Saturday. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or Donor's choice.
