POMONA – Alvin "Sonny" Kreuzer, 93, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at his home in Pomona, Illinois.
Alvin was born on April 14, 1932, in Gorham, IL, the son of Percy A. and Clara (VanPelt) Kreuzer. He married Doris Sickler on October 9, 1951, in Murphysboro, IL. Alvin was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict as a Paratrooper in the Airborne Division. He had retired from the Railroad. Alvin loved nature, hunting and fishing. He was a proud Veteran who never met a stranger. Alvin was kind and loving and will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Doris Kreuzer of Pomona, IL, his children: Patti Reed of Murphysboro, IL, Leslie Black of Murphysboro, IL, Alvin Kreuzer, Jr, of Evansville, IL, Terri Korando of Ava, IL, Sharon Holderfield of Pomona, IL; his many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, and his sister, Mary Schroeder of Herrin, IL.
Alvin was preceded in death by his Parents, and his son, Steven P. Kreuzer.
Alvin's wishes were for Cremation, and he will be honored with a 21-gun salute during a private family gathering at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Donor's Choice and can be mailed to Wilson's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Ava, IL 62907.
