Alvie Jay McCormick CAMPBELL HILL, Alvie Jay McCormick, 39, of Campbell Hill, passed away at10:00 A.M. Sunday, June 01, 2008, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born February 06, 1969 in Sparta, Illinois the son of James (Jay) W. McCormick and Dorothy (Rieckenberg) Miller. He is survived by his parents, James (Jay) McCormick ( Linda Presler) of Ava, IL, and Dorothy (Gary) Miller of Murphysboro, IL; two sons, Logan Michael, (11), Newbergh, IN; Bailey Lane, (8), Campbell Hill, IL;one sister, Jody (Chris) Janssen, Avon , IL; maternal grandfather, Alfred Rieckenberg of Murphysboro, IL; Paternal Grandmother, Iris Henson of Willisville, IL; three nephews, Robert, Thomas, and Benton Janssen, one niece, Jaclyn Janssen; aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. He is preceded in death by one brother, Don Rieckenberg; maternal grandmother, Marie Rieckenberg; and step grandfather, Phil Henson. Alvie is employed by Knight Hawk Coal Company, upon graduation from Trico High School he was State President of F.F.A. then after graduation from U of I he worked at AMCY chemical Co., John Deere & Company, FMC. Alvie enjoyed coaching Bailey's baseball team, dancing with Ricky Rover's Rooter Roaster Stomper's, and Riding his Harley. Nothing made him more proud than being a dad. He loved to sing any time, any place, particularly in church, where he also served on the church council, worship committee. He enjoyed the open road, the freedom of the wind blowing in his face and he held hope in the promise of Eternal Life. Funeral services will be held June 6, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill. Rev. Raymond Barclay of St. Luke's Lutheran Church will be officiating. Burial will be at Looney Springs Cemetery, in a portion of the original McCormick homestead. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Thursday from 5-8 PM and on Friday from 7:30 until 9 am. Then at St. Lukes Church in Campbell Hill from 10 am until the hour of service.
