STEELEVILLE, Alvera Schillinger, 83, of Steeleville, passed away at 4:58 P.M. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Memorial Hospital of Chester in Chester, IL. Alvera was born February 14, 1926 in Wine Hill, Illinois the daughter of Herbert Rieckenberg and Effie (Otten) Rieckenberg. Alvera married Eugene F. Schillinger on September 28, 1948 at Chester, IL. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1978. Alvera was a retired inspector from Sparta Aluminum Plant in Sparta, IL. She was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Wine Hill, IL; B.B.K. American Legion Auxiliary Post #480 in Steeleville; and Steeleville Eagles Aerie #3960 Auxiliary in Steeleville. Alvera was a volunteer at various organizations including the Chester Memorial Hospital and the Randolph County Court House. Alvera is survived by one daughter, Mary (Dwaine) Fulton of Centralia, IL; one granddaughter, Sara Ann Fulton of Norfolk, NE; and two brothers, Oray Rieckenberg of Steeleville and Ardell Rieckenberg of Steeleville. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville with Rev. Ed Rowley officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Saturday from 9 to 11 am with an American Legion Auxiliary service held at 10:00 am under auspices of B.B.K. American Legion Post #480 Auxiliary. Memorials may be made to Barnes-Jewish Cancer Research.
