WALSH – Alvera L. Runge, 93, of Walsh passed away at 4:15 AM, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the Sparta Community Hospital.

Alvera was born on March 2, 1926, in Welge, the daughter of Louis and Adele (Witbart) Bierman. She married Walter A. Runge on May 31, 1947, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Bremen, and they shared 60 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 9, 2007. Mrs. Runge was a homemaker and a very hard working farmers wife. She and Walter loved to play cards with the neighbors and friends, they loved country music, dancing, and attending the church picnics and special events. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Walsh.

Alvera is survived by her daughter; Brenda L. Young, of Steeleville, grandchildren; Jeff (Jana) Young, Jason (Karen) Young, Matt Young, Steven (Tracy) Eggemeyer, Stacy (Michael) Hency, great grandchildren; Colten Young, Mason Young, Cole Eggemeyer, Wade Eggemeyer, Luke Eggemeyer, step great grandchildren; Christina and Makaylia Hency.

Mrs. Runge was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter; Janet Runge Christisen, brother; Clarence Bierman, sisters; Mildred Wilson, and Lowiene Ohlau.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at the Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville with Rev. Harold Weber, officiating, burial will follow at the Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home where friends may call from 10 AM to 1 PM. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, St. John's Lutheran Church, Bremen, or the American Heart Association.
