STEELEVILLE – Alice Sternberg, 93, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, Illinois.

Alice was born on January 16, 1931, in Steeleville, IL, the daughter of Erwin and Olga (Nagel) Kueker. She married John C. "Gus" Sternberg, on August 19, 1949, in Steelville, IL. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2000. Alice was retired from the USDA Agency, Sparta, IL. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL and the LCWA.

Alice is survived by her children: Clyde (Deborah) Sternberg of Sparta, IL, Jim (Pat) Sternberg of Springfield, MO; her grandchildren: Jon (Christina) Sternberg, Amy (Kyle) Hueghey, Jill Brock, Chris (Ame) Sternberg; her great grandchildren: Jon, Gracie, Maggie, Sadie, Tobie, Jasmine, Tyson; her siblings: Ruth Sammetinger of St. Peters, FL, and Paul L. (Marie) Kueker of Swansea, IL.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dolores Kilman.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024, 2:00 pm, at Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth Tegtmeier and Parrish Ministry Assistant Julie Posth officiating. Burial to follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be Saturday, December 7, 2024, where friends may call from 1:00 until time of service at the church.
