Ava – Alice M. Sherman, 76, of Ava, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at her home in Ava, Illinois.

Alice was born July 24, 1945, in Murphysboro, IL, to George L. and Charlottie Davis Porter. She married John Edward Sherman on June 26, 1971, in Murphysboro, IL. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2000. Alice was a homemaker.

Alice is survived by her children: Chad (Patricia) Sherman of Oraville, IL, Kyle Sherman of Ava, IL, Brock (Paula) Sherman of Vergennes, IL, Heather Sherman of Ava, IL, grandchildren: Hunter, Kailey, Jonathon, Isabel, Courtney, Zack, Julia and Chucky Sherman, great granddaughter, Hazel Sherman, brothers: Robert "Bob" (Helen) Porter of McClure, IL, and John (Lynn) Porter of Murphysboro, IL, sisters-in-law: Louise Fulton of Ava and Mary Sherman of Willisville.

Alice is also preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Kathryn Tarantino and Nancy Porter-Drone, and brothers-in-law, Jerry Tarantino, Jeff Drone, and Bob Fulton.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, October 1, 2021, at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, Murphysboro, IL, with Pastor Sam Higgerson officiating. Burial to follow.
