SPARTA - Alice Mae Baird, 90, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Randolph County Care Center in Sparta, IL.

Alice was born on May 18, 1935 in Bremen, IL, to Charles and Helen (Joost) Smith. On June 11, 1955, Alice married C. Stanley Baird at Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, IL. They shared 69 years of married life together before Stanley preceded her in death on March 22, 2025.

Alice was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, mowing grass, and doing crossword puzzles. Alice was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church in Sparta.

Alice is survived by her son, Stephen (Rhonda) Baird of Sparta, IL, her daughter, Tammy (Robert) Gielow of Steeleville, IL, her grandchildren: Joey (Holly) Baird of Mequon, WI, Jill (Keith) Georger of Columbia, IL, Greg (Mallory) Baird of Sparta, IL, Jeff (Michelle) Baird of Sparta, IL, Bradley (Becky) Gielow of Steeleville, IL; her great grandchildren: Melany, Alyssa, Nathan, Elly, Kaylin, Alaina, and Griffin; her half-brother, Reuel Smith of Chester, IL, and her half-sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Heberlie of Chester, IL.

Alice was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Earl (Velma) Smith and her half-brother, Ralph Smith.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, where friends may call from 9:00 am, until the time of service. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Brother Tim McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta. Memorials may be given to the Sparta Senior Site's Meals on Wheels program.
