AVA, Alfred R. Thompson, 97, of Ava, passed away at 7:10 P.M. Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Coulterville Care Center in Coulterville, IL. He was born January 14, 1914 in Ava, Illinois the son of John Thompson and Emily (Feldman) Thompson. Alfred married Mary L. Castens on April 21, 1945 in Chester, Illinois. Mary passed away on February 1, 2009. He was a farmer. Alfred was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Point; the Immanuel Lutheran Layman League and the Shiloh Hill Mens Club. He is survived by one daughter: Sharon and Canyon Roberts of Ava, IL; six grandchildren: Sherry Roberts (Paul Ridgeway), David Roberts (Jackie Powers), Jason Thompson (Rebecca), Dawn Reese (Jeff Giacomo), Tabitha Creamer (Tommie Gray), Randy Creamer (Katie Pflasterer); and ten great grandchildren: Caitlin Roberts, Jared Powers, Alaina Ridgeway, Parker Ridgeway, Tehya Thompson, Richard Thompson, Hannah Thompson, Mia Thompson, Brooke Creamer, Morgan Giacomo (Blake Rees). Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Point with Rev. Tim B. Zechiel officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville on Saturday from 5-8 PM and then on Sunday from 7:30 to Noon and then from 1 to 2pm at the church.
