AVA, Alfred Henry Rieckenberg, 93, of Ava, passed away at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, IL. Alfred was born November 18, 1914 in Ava, Illinois the son of Henry Rieckenberg and Anna (Ebers) Rieckenberg. Alfred married Marie Wedemeyer on September 14, 1941 in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2002. Alfred was a retired farmer. He was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, the Jackson County Farm Bureau and the St. Luke's Lutheran Brotherhood. He is survived by one son, Roger (Judy) Rieckenberg of Willisville and one daughter, Dorothy (Gary) Miller of Murphysboro; 7 grandchildren: Christopher (Tammy) Rieckenberg, Andrew (Nancy) Rieckenberg, Priscilla (Shane) Martinez, Melissa (Nathaniel) Clark, Lynn Rieckenberg, Jaclyn Rieckenberg, Jody (Christopher) Janssen; 13 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Paul Wedemeyer of Percy and sister-in-law, Linda Gerberding of Chester. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ervin, two grandsons: Don & Alvie and great granddaughter: Bronte; five brothers: Arthur, George, Albert, Elmer & Walter; three sisters: Lizzie Rieckenberg, Esther Ebers, and Edna Rathert. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 1, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill with Rev. Raymond Barclay officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm and on Friday at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava from 8 am until 11 am and on Friday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill from 2 to 3 pm. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Building Fund or donor's choice.
