AVA - Alen Hegney, 78, of Ava, passed away at 7:00 am, Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Jefferson Barracks Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. Alen was born in Livingston, Montana on December 23, 1934, the son of Albert and Clara Reisivig Hegney. He married Ludawn Riggs on December 31, 1975 at Chadwick, IL. She preceded in him in death on April 16, 2010. He was the owner of "Our Place" tavern in Ava. He was a veteran of Vietnam Conflict. Alen was of the Protestant Faith. Alen is survived by his children, Jessica (Bryan) Pour of St. Louis, MO, Douglas Hegney of Dallas, TX, Pamela Jo Butler of Albany, OR and Daniel Hegney of Albany, OR; three step children, Delain Cook of Carterville, IL, Matthew Hadfield of El Paso, TX, and James Hadfield of Indianapolis, IN; 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons; and one brother, Alton Hegney of California. Alen was preceded in death by his Parents. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Debra Rathert, Lay Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Wilson's Funeral Home, Ava, where friends may call from 10 am until 1pm Saturday. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
