CHESTER - Alberta "Bert" Eggemeyer, 78, of Pompano Beach, Florida, formerly of rural Chester, IL, passed away at 10:15 pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg, IL. Alberta was born July 6, 1934 in Chester, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Cora Runge Eggemeyer. She began work for Bell Telephone Company (AT&T) in the early 1950's and remained a loyal employee until her retirement in 1994. She became a chief service advisor with AT&T, designing and overseeing the installation of phone systems for businesses. She was a resident of Pompano Beach, Florida for most of her adult life. Health issues forced her return to Illinois where she would be under the watchful eye of her sister, whom she lovingly referred to as "Lorie". She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Walsh, IL. Bert is survived by one sister, Loretta Gentry of Carterville, IL; her nieces including, Cindy Eggemeyer of River Forest, IL, Donna Spaunhorst of Washington, MO, Robin Usher of Chester, IL and LaRae Wofford of Sparta, IL; her nephews including, Rudy Eggemeyer of Chester, Jim Eggemeyer of Columbia, MO, Mitch Eggemeyer of Chester, and Derek Gentry of Rockwood, IL; 6 great nieces; 6 great nephews; and 1 great great niece. Bert was preceded in death by her Parents; her brothers, Edmund Eggemeyer, Floyd Eggemeyer, and Raynold Eggemeyer. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Zion Lutheran Church, Walsh, IL with Rev. Harold Weber officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Zion Lutheran Church, Walsh, on Saturday from 11:00 am until 2 pm. Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church General Fund. Funeral is under auspices of Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville.
