STEELEVILLE – Ada M. Gill, 86, of Steeleville, Illinois, passed away on June 28, 2026, at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, IL.

Ada was born on June 22, 1940, in Chester, IL, to Elmer and Ada (Thieret) Freytag. She married Darrell Gill on March 4, 1960, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Wine Hill. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1999. Ada was a homemaker and a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL. She ran a small lawn-mowing business and enjoyed walking through town with her sister, Mary. Ada dearly loved children and animals and cherished time with her family.

Ada is survived by her sister, Mary (Larry) Wegener of Steeleville, IL, her nieces and nephews: Linda Bayles, Gerry (Beth) Schatte, Dennis (Debbie) Schatte, Jeff (Iva) Freytag, David (Leah) Freytag and several great nieces and nephews.

Ada was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Elmer Lee Freytag, her niece, Jodi Reeves, her nephews, Donald Schatte and Greg Freytag.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, 11:00 am, at Wilson’s Funeral Home, Steeleville, IL, with Parish Ministry Assistant Julie Posth officiating. Burial to follow at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville, IL. Visitation will be Friday morning, July 3, 2026, where friends may call from 10:00 am, until time of service at the funeral home.
